Taxonomy
Lunulites vicksburgensis was named by Conrad (1848). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Vicksburg, which is in a Rupelian marine marl in the Byram Marl Formation of Mississippi.

It was recombined as Oligotresium vicksburgensis by Gabb and Horn (1862) and Cheetham (1962).
