Echinobrissus cubensis was named by Weisbord (1934). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Phyllobrissus cubensis by Cooke (1953); it was recombined as Petalobrissus cubensis by Smith (1991) and Manso and Andrade (2008).
