Taxonomy
Lingula trentonensis was named by Conrad (1842). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Glossina trentonensis by Schuchert (1897); it was recombined as Lingula (Glossina) trentonensis by Grabau and Shimer (1907); it was recombined as Lingula (Palaeoglossa) trentonensis by Bassler (1915).
