Taxonomy
Flabellum vanuatu was named by Wells (1984). It is extant. Its type locality is Kere River, Espiritu Santo, which is in an Ionian offshore sandstone/siltstone in Vanuatu.

It was recombined as Truncatoflabellum vanuatu by Cairns (2016).
