Taxonomy
Litharaea nodulosa was named by Duncan (1880). Its type locality is Bhagathoro Hill, Sind, which is in a Priabonian shallow subtidal limestone/sandstone in Pakistan.

It was recombined as Goniopora nodulosa by Schuster (2002).
