Taxonomy
Pygurus (Pygurus) andinus was named by Larrain and Biró-Bagóczky (1985). Its type specimen is CPUC-RM./85-5, a test, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cajón el Fierro Bed 85, which is in a Tithonian marine sandstone in the Baños del Flaco Formation of Chile.
