Lioceratoides was named by Spath (1919) [Sepkoski's age data: J Plie-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); to Harpoceratinae by Smith and Tipper (1996), Géczy and Meister (1998) and Hillebrandt (2006); and to Protogrammoceratinae by Howarth (2013).
