Taxonomy
Macrocystella mariae was named by Callaway (1877). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Shineton (Sheinton), which is in a Migneintian offshore shale in the Shineton Shale Formation of the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Macrocystella.
