Taxonomy
Gastrochaenolites lapidicus was named by Kelly and Bromley (1984). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is BGS Kelly Col. Zu2230, an other, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Locality 3, Nettleton, Basal Spilsby Nodule Bed, Lincolnshire, which is in a Tithonian shoreface sandstone in the Spilsby Sandstone Formation of the United Kingdom.
