Taxonomy
Gastrochaenolites orbicularis was named by Kelly and Bromley (1984). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is BMNH L8138, an other, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Tournai [Bernissart Calcirudites], which is in a Cenomanian marine grainstone in the Bernissart Calcirudites Formation of Belgium.
