Teredolites clavatus was named by Leymerie (1842). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. It is the type species of Teredolites.

Synonyms
  • Martesites vadaszi was named by Vitalis (1961). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil.

    It was recombined as Trypanites vadaszi by Bromley (1972); it was synonymized subjectively with Teredolites clavatus by Kelly and Bromley (1984).
