Taxonomy
Notidanus aptiensis was named by Pictet (1865). It is the type species of Gladioserratus.

It was recombined as Notorynchus aptiensis by Siverson (1997); it was recombined as Gladioserratus aptiensis by Underwood et al. (2011).
