Crioceratites (Menuthiocrioceras) was named by Collignon (1949) [Sepkoski's age data: K Vala-u K Haut-u]. Its type is Crioceratites (Menuthiocrioceras) lenoblei.

It was reranked as Menuthiocrioceras by Cantu-Chapa (1962), Sepkoski (2002) and Klein et al. (2007).

It was assigned to Crioceratites by Collignon (1949); to Crioceratinae by Cantu-Chapa (1962); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Crioceratitidae by Klein et al. (2007).
