Taxonomy
Dickinsonia elongata was named by Glaessner and Wade (1966). Its type specimen is P13767 and is an impression. Its type locality is Ediacara Range, which is in an Ediacaran open shallow subtidal sandstone in the Rawnsley Quartzite Formation of Australia.
It was synonymized subjectively with Dickinsonia rex by Fedonkin et al. (2007).
