Paramontlivaltia obliqua was named by Beauvais and Negus (1975). Its type locality is Fairford Coral Bed, Gloucestershire, UK, which is in a Bathonian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the White Limestone Formation of the United Kingdom.
