Taxonomy

Eupsenella was named by Westwood (1874). It is extant.

It was assigned to Bethyllides by Westwood (1874); to Bethylidae by Carpenter (1992); and to Bethylinae by Ashmead (1893), Ramos et al. (2014), Azevedo et al. (2018), Brazidec and Perrichot (2022) and Brazidec et al. (2023).

Synonyms

Sinibethylus was named by Hong (2002).

It was considered a nomen nudum by Hong (2002), Hong (2002) and Azevedo et al. (2018).
Sinibethylus eocenicus was named by Hong (2002). It is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Xilutian coal mine, Fushun amber (post-1980 collection), which is in a Ypresian terrestrial amber in China.

It was considered a nomen nudum by Hong (2002) and Hong (2002); it was replaced with Eupsenella neohongi by Azevedo et al. (2018).
Protobethylus was named by De Ploëg and Nel (2004).

It was synonymized subjectively with Eupsenella by Ramos et al. (2014) and Azevedo et al. (2018).

It was assigned to Bethylinae by De Ploëg and Nel (2004) and Azevedo and Azar (2012).
Fushunochrysites was named by Hong (2002).

It was considered a nomen nudum by Hong (2002) and Azevedo et al. (2018).
Fushunochrysites eocenicus was named by Hong (2002). Its type specimen is IV10060-2, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Xilutian coal mine, Fushun amber (late 1970s collection), which is in a Ypresian terrestrial amber in China.
