Holepyris was named by Kieffer (1904). It is extant.
It was assigned to Bethylinae by Kieffer (1905); to Bethylidae by Carpenter (1992); to Epyrini by Sorg (1988) and Azevedo and Azar (2012); and to Epyrinae by Azevedo et al. (2018), Colombo and Azevedo (2021), Colombo et al. (2022) and Brazidec et al. (2023).
