Laelius was named by Ashmead (1893). It is extant.
It was assigned to Bethylinae by Ashmead (1893) and Kieffer (1905); to Bethylidae by Carpenter (1992); to Epyrini by Sorg (1988) and Azevedo and Azar (2012); and to Epyrinae by Azevedo et al. (2018), Colombo and Azevedo (2021) and Colombo et al. (2022).
