Taxonomy
Siderastrea cuyleri was named by Wells (1932). Its type locality is Cow Creek near Travis Peak Post Office, which is in an Albian shallow subtidal limestone in the Travis Peak Formation of Texas. It is the type species of Eosiderastrea.
It was recombined as Eosiderastrea cuyleri by Löser (2016).
