Taxonomy
Neocardioceras was named by Spath (1926) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno-u]. Its type is Ammonites juddii.

It was assigned to Acanthoceratidae by Cobban (1988); to Acanthoceratinae by Kennedy et al. (1996) and Wright et al. (1996); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
