Taxonomy
Archaeaspis fedonkini was named by Ivantsov (2001). Its type specimen is PIN 3993/5053 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Zimnergorsk, which is in a Vendian marine horizon in the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Archaeaspinus.

It was recombined as Archaeaspinus fedonkini by Ivantsov (2001) and Ivantsov (2007).
