Kliveria was named by Handlirsch (1906). It is not extant. Its type is Termes incertus. It is the type genus of Kliveriidae.

It was assigned to Kliveriidae by Handlirsch (1919), Handlirsch (1922), Guthörl (1934) and Guthörl (1939); and to Neoptera by Carpenter (1992).
