Taxonomy
Podocyrtis hirsutus was named by Krasheninnikov (1960). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Thyrsocyrtis hirsuta by Riedel and Sanfilippo (1970); it was recombined as Thyrsocyrtis (Thyrsocyrtis) hirsuta by Sanfilippo et al. (2003).
