Ovalastrea pseudolorioli was named by Morycowa and Decrouez (1993). Its type locality is Pointe Blanche, Massif des Bornes, Urgonian Limestone, Haute-Savoie, which is in a Barremian shallow subtidal wackestone/grainstone in France.
