Taxonomy
Namacalathus hermanastes was named by Grotzinger et al. (2000). Its type specimen is F314 Namibia and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Reefal biostrome, Kuibis Subgroup, which is in an Ediacaran reef, buildup or bioherm bindstone in the Zaris Formation of Namibia.
