Eocoleus was named by Kukalová (1968). It is not extant. Its type is Eocoleus scaber.

It was assigned to Moravocoleidae by Kukalová-Peck and Beutel (2012); and to Tshekardocoleidae by Kukalová (1968), Carpenter (1992) and Kirejtshuk (2020).
