Paraconlinoceras was named by Kennedy and Cobban (1990) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno-m Sepkoski's reference number: 901]. Its type is Eucalycoceras leonense.

It was assigned to Acanthoceratinae by Kennedy and Cobban (1990) and Wright et al. (1996); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).

Cobban 1990Moderately small ammonites with narrow, high ribs that cross the venter; acanthoceratine nuclei bearing long and short ribs with umbilical bullae, conical inner ventrolateral and nodate to clavate outer ventrolateral and siphonal tubercles; inner ventrolaterals decline in middle growth, all tubercles except umbilical ones lost on later parts of body chamber where venter rounds; umbilical bullae decline and disappear at adult aperture.
