Paracoroniceras was named by Spath (1922) [Sepkoski's age data: J Sine-l].

It was reranked as Coroniceras (Paracoroniceras) by Macchioni et al. (2005), Macchioni et al. (2006) and Howarth (2013).

It was assigned to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Coroniceras by Macchioni et al. (2005), Macchioni et al. (2006) and Howarth (2013).
