Estoniaster maennili

Taxonomy
Estoniaster maennili was named by Blake and Rozhnov (2007). Its type specimen is Holotype PIN 4125/766; paratypes PIN 4125/767 and PIN 4125/768 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Vasalemma, Vasalemma Fm., which is in a Keila reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Vasalemma Formation of Estonia. It is the type species of Estoniaster.

Rozhnov 2007Estoniaster differs from other representatives of the family in the presence of a large, domed madreporite near the body margin; presence of two well−defined marginal series in which the superomarginals are fusiform and at least some bear a single enlarged accessory; inferomarginals lack enlarged spines.
