Eodromeus was named by Ponomarenko (1977). Its type is Eodromeus antiquus. It is the type genus of Eodromeinae.
It was assigned to Carabidae by Carpenter (1992); and to Eodromeinae by Ponomarenko (1977) and Kirejtshuk and Ansorge (2022).
