I. I. Bucur et al. 2009Non-geniculate monomerous thalli made up of cylindrical to subcylindrical branches, sometimes bifurcated. The branches are composed of a coaxial core with arched, alternating lightcolored
and dark-colored rows of cells, and a peripheral region. Cell filaments in the peripheral region are perpendicular to the core axis. Cell fusions are present in the peripheral region, and possible also in the core.
