Taxonomy
Trygonorhina dezignii was named by Heckel (1853). It is the type species of Pseudorhinobatos.

It was recombined as Rhinobatus dezignii by Jaekel (1894); it was recombined as Rhinobatus dezignoi by Carnevale et al. (2014); it was recombined as Pseudorhinobatos dezignii by Marramà et al. (2020).
