Taxonomy
Myliobatis gazolae was named by de Zigno (1885). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Monte Bolca (Pesciara), which is in a Lutetian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in Italy.

It was recombined as Promyliobatis gazolae by Jaekel (1894) and Carnevale et al. (2014).
