Taxonomy
Procyathophora aguilerai was named by Reyeros-Navarro (1963). Its type locality is San Juan Raya, San Juan Raya Formation, Puebla, which is in an Aptian open shallow subtidal mixed carbonate-siliciclastic in the San Juan Raya Formation of Mexico.

It was recombined as Ksiazkiewiczia aguilerai by Baron-Szabo (2009); it was recombined as Cryptocoenia aguilerai by Löser et al. (2013).
