Taxonomy
Nazcacetus urbinai was named by Lambert et al. (2009). Its type specimen is MUSM 949, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Los Quesos, which is in a Messinian lagoonal siltstone in the Pisco Formation of Peru.
