Perampliata was named by Arkell (1936) [Sepkoski's age data: J Oxfo-u Sepkoski's reference number: 92]. Its type is Tellina ampliata.

It was assigned to Myrteinae by Cox et al. (1969) and Vokes (1980); and to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002).
