Taxonomy
Lucina gigantea was named by Deshayes (1825) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; Europe, Pakistan, Libya, Egypt, Russia.]. It is not a trace fossil. It is the type species of Pseudomiltha, Pseudomiltha (Pseudomiltha).

It was recombined as Lucina (Pseudomiltha) gigantea by Cox (1931); it was recombined as Pseudomiltha (Pseudomiltha) gigantea by Cox et al. (1969); it was recombined as Pseudomiltha gigantea by Iqbal (1973).
