Taxonomy
Procheloniceras was named by Spath (1923) [Sepkoski's age data: K Apti-l]. Its type is Ammonites stobieckii.

It was assigned to Cheloniceratinae by Förster and Weier (1983) and Landra et al. (2000); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
