Taxonomy

Cyathoseris formosa was named by d'Achiardi (1875).

Sister species lacking formal opinion data

C. mirabilis, C. tayamai, C. valmondasiaca, C. danae

Synonyms

Cyathoseris eocenica was named by Stemann (1992). Its type locality is Lago Alahuela, Panama, which is in a Priabonian reef, buildup or bioherm mudstone/limestone in the Gatuncillo Formation of Panama.

It was recombined as Mycetophyllia eocenica by Kiessling and Baron-Szabo (2004); it was synonymized subjectively with Cyathoseris formosa by Baron-Szabo (2008).
