Pseudobaculites was named by Cobban (1952) [Sepkoski's age data: K Coni-u K Camp-u]. Its type is Pseudobaculites nodosus.

It was assigned to Baculitidae by Matsumoto (1959); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
