Taxonomy
Spondylus olssoni was named by Clark and Durham (1946). Its type specimen is UCMP 34916, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is U.C. Location S. 8049 (Zone C) - Clark and Durham (1946), which is in an Eocene coastal sandstone/sandstone in Colombia.
