Velates californicus
Taxonomy
Velates californicus was named by Vokes (1935). Its type specimen is UCMP 15482 and 15483 (syntypes), a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP 3792, Runkle Canyon, which is in a Thanetian marine siliciclastic in the Santa Susana Formation of California.
