Crocodyloidea

Reptilia -

Taxonomy
Crocodyloidea was named by Deraniyagala (1939) [almost certainly first used by Deraniyagala; could be attributed to Owen 1842 based on principle of coordination; also falsely attributed to Cuvier 1807 and Fitzinger 1826]. It is extant.

It was reranked as the unranked clade Crocodyloidea by Salisbury and Willis (1996), Salisbury et al. (2006), Brochu (2007) and Brochu et al. (2009).

It was assigned to Crocodylia by Salisbury and Willis (1996), Brochu (2007) and Brochu et al. (2009); to Eusuchia by Martin et al. (2010); and to Brevirostres by Salisbury et al. (2006) and Farke et al. (2014).

If no rank is listed, the taxon is considered an unranked clade in modern classifications. Ranks may be repeated or presented in the wrong order because authors working on different parts of the classification may disagree about how to rank taxa.
