Taxonomy
Ogilvinella parelegans was named by Sikharulidze (1979). Its type locality is Tskhanari, Caucasus, upper biostrome, which is in an Albian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in Georgia.

It was recombined as Placogyra parelegans by Baron-Szabo (2009).
