Taxonomy
Ametroproctus was named by Higgins and Woolley (1968). It is extant. It is the type genus of Ametroproctidae.

It was assigned to Ametroproctidae by Arillo et al. (2009); and to Cymbaeremaeidae by Dunlop et al. (2013).
