Taxonomy
Orbicella comalensis was named by Wells (1932). It is not extant. Its type locality is Spring Branch-Cranes Mill region, Comal County, which is in an Albian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Glen Rose Limestone Formation of Texas.
It was recombined as Preverastraea comalensis by Baron-Szabo (2009).
