Rubroceras was named by Cobban et al. (1989) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Rubroceras alatum.
It was assigned to Vascoceratidae by Wright et al. (1996); and to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002).
