Taxonomy
Sarasinella was named by Uhlig (1905) [Sepkoski's age data: K Vala-l]. Its type is Hoplites ambiguus.

It was reranked as Hoplites (Sarasinella) by Uhlig (1910).

It was assigned to Hoplites by Uhlig (1910); to Neocomitinae by Haas (1960); to Ammonoidea by Imlay (1960) and Sepkoski (2002); and to Neocomitinae by Imlay and Jones (1970), Reboulet (1996), Vasicek (2002) and Zell et al. (2015).
