Taxonomy
Patella aculeata was named by Gmelin (1791) [DISTRIBUTION: North Carolina-Colombia, circum-Caribbean.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Crepidula aculeata by Guppy (1864) and Woodring and Bramlette (1950); it was recombined as Bostrycapulus aculeatus by Hendy et al. (2008).
