Fusus decemcostatus was named by Say (1826) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Neptunea decemcostata by Richards (1962); it was recombined as Neptunea lyrata decemcostata by Hendy et al. (2008).
